Habida Returns to Kenya, Releases a Valentine’s Special Song ‘Sweet Love’
Kenyan songbird Habida Moloney has announced her return to the country after three years away in South Africa.
The ‘My reason’ singer was signed to South Africa’s Gallo records in 2013 in a move that was expected to take her music to the next level.
However, that has not been the case. With a couple of singles to her name, she hasn’t made much of an impression as her Kenyan counterparts continue to chuck new and better music every day.
Announcing her comeback, Habida wrote on Facebook: “I’ve said bye bye to South Africa and I can say I am really happy to be back home to Kenya. I cant’ wait to share the new me with you guys.”
In addition to releasing her new single dubbed ‘Sweet Love’, the singer is looking to set up a music studio in Kenya.
She will be setting up the studio and management imprint in Nairobi, a process that starts this February.
Her new single is a poem to her family, Kenya and the music industry. It features Ghanaian crooner JTown and was co-produced by UK-based producer Silvastone.
“This song is a different sound from the usual Habida sound because I have grown as a woman, wife and mother,” said Habida, adding, “I wrote SWEET LOVE while I was homesick and missing all the little things that make Kenya unique like Swahili Food – I had missed Kaimati, Mahamri and Pilau.”
