Popular Ugandan musician-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, has been sworn in as an MP. Bobi, 35, won a by-election for Kyadondo East, a constituency in central Uganda, on June 29 as an independent candidate.

However, many of his supporters reportedly want him to challenge President Yoweri Museveni in the country’s 2021 election.

Bobi was pictured recently shaking President Museveni’s hand at a public event, something that angered his supporters on social media.

In response, he said: “I am a leader…and this country has a president. When I meet him on a function, especially on a funeral of a respected leader, it is only civilized that I greet him with respect. So my greeting to the president was courtesy.”
